The Grand Egyptian Museum opened to the public in November 2025 with the full Tutankhamun collection and Khufu's solar boat. A year on, it is the second stop on most Giza days, and it is about to cost more.

From 1 November 2026 a foreign adult ticket goes from 1,570 to 1,830 EGP. Below: every category, how to book, the fake sites to avoid, and which tours already include the ticket.

From 1 November 2026 a foreign adult pays 1,830 EGP (about $33) for the GEM, up from 1,570; foreign students and children pay 920. Foreign visitors book online with a timed slot on visit-gem.com, the only site the museum and the tourism ministry call official. With the 700 EGP pyramids ticket, a Giza and GEM day costs 2,530 EGP (about $46) in tickets alone.

How much is a Grand Egyptian Museum ticket from 1 November 2026?

1,830 EGP for a foreign adult, about $33. Every category goes up by roughly 10 to 17%.

Egypt Independent published the new list on 18 October 2026. The rise covers "all visitor categories", Egyptians included. The ticket gets you the Tutankhamun galleries, the main galleries, the Grand Hall and Grand Staircase, and Khufu's boat museum.

Plan on the new price for any visit from 1 November. If your visit falls before then, the old price still applies, which helps only if you are in Cairo in the next few days.

How do foreigners buy GEM tickets?

Online only, on visit-gem.com, for a timed entry slot. There is no foreign ticket sale at the door.

Egypt's State Information Service quotes the museum's CEO, Dr Ahmed Ghoneim, that visit-gem.com is the only official site for GEM tickets. Today that address forwards to tickets.gem.eg, the museum's own ticketing system. You pick a date, a time slot, your category and nationality, then pay by card.

Book a few days ahead in winter. The museum takes up to 18,000 visitors on peak days and slots sell out. Opening hours are 08:30 to 19:00 Sunday to Friday with the galleries open 09:00 to 18:00; on Wednesday and Saturday the galleries stay open to 21:00. Last tickets: 17:00, or 20:00 on the late days.

How do you spot a fake GEM ticket website?

Check the address. Only visit-gem.com (which forwards to tickets.gem.eg) is official; anything promising instant or discounted GEM tickets is not.

On 23 May 2026 the museum warned about "dozens" of fake websites and social media pages selling tickets, some built to steal card details. Egyptian Streets reported that more than 50 had been taken down worldwide.

Type visit-gem.com yourself rather than clicking a search ad.
The price should match the table above, in EGP. A ticket "from $25" or with a skip-the-line fee is a reseller at best.
A tour that includes the GEM is fine: the operator buys the ticket for you.

Can you see the GEM and the pyramids in one day?

Yes. They are about 2 km apart: do the pyramids from 07:00, then the GEM after lunch. Budget 2,530 EGP in tickets.

The plateau opens at 07:00 and is at its quietest before the tour groups arrive around 09:00. Three hours there, lunch, then a 14:00 or 15:00 slot at the GEM works well. On Wednesday or Saturday you can push the museum into the evening and take a slower morning.

Doing it alone, the tickets add up to 700 EGP for the plateau and 1,830 for the GEM, about $46, before any pyramid interior. Add the Great Pyramid at 1,500 EGP and you are past 4,000 EGP. Our guide to Giza without a tour covers the Uber side.

Which Giza tours include the Grand Egyptian Museum ticket?

The Memphis Tours day includes it. The 8-hour private tour excludes every entrance fee. Three cheaper tours sell the GEM as an option.

The pyramids and GEM day tour by Memphis Tours ($185) includes entry fees to the listed sites, the plateau and the GEM among them, plus lunch and an Egyptologist. Interiors and tips are extra. The 8-hour pyramids and GEM tour looks cheaper at $35, but its exclusions say "Entrance fees": add 2,530 EGP (about $46) per person from November.

The half-day private tour, the private tour with interiors and the budget private tour each have GEM options. Their from-prices are car and guide only, so the GEM is in the option price, not the headline. Ask whether the option covers the new 1,830 EGP ticket for November dates: options priced before the rise may not.
