Pyramids Land Private Tours · Giza plateau and the GEM

The pyramids and the GEM by private car

A private Egyptologist and driver for a long day: the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx in the morning, lunch, then the Grand Egyptian Museum. Pick it if you want both sights with a guide and are happy to pay the tickets yourself.

8-Hour Private Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum

About this experience

Same day as the Memphis Tours version, a different price model. The $35 from-price, "Car+guide+lunch", buys a private air-conditioned car with driver, a qualified Egyptologist and lunch at a restaurant. The other option adds a 30-minute camel ride. Every entrance fee is extra, and the listing says so: the plateau ticket is 700 EGP and the GEM ticket 1,830 EGP from 1 November 2026 (1,570 until 31 October), so about 2,530 EGP or $46 per adult. Even with the tickets, it costs less than half the all-in alternative.

Plan on three hours on the plateau and three in the museum. Foreigners buy GEM tickets online only, with a timed slot, on visit-gem.com; ask Pyramids Land whether the guide books yours or you do. The Great Pyramid interior is 1,500 EGP (about $27) on top. A September 2026 guest also had to pay the driver's admission, which shouldn't happen: ask in advance and refuse politely.

Shop stops are the recurring complaint. Reviewers list papyrus, cartouche jewellery, spices, cotton and essential oils between the pyramids and lunch. Some enjoyed them and felt no pressure; two 2026 reviewers felt scammed and lost museum time. Tell the guide at pickup how much time you want in the GEM, and that you'd rather skip the shops.

What guests say

★★★★★

Our guide was very transparent about what to expect, allowed for us to go at our own speed throughout the day, and was easy to chat with. [...] I wish we had more time in the museum, I could have spent the entire day in there

They worked on our time & took us to the museum, a nice buffett lunch spot and back safely to our hotel. We were not rushed.

One important tip completely unrelated to Fatima: Do not bring Meta smart glasses/sunglasses on these tours. They are strictly forbidden at the attractions, so it is best to leave them at your hotel rather than risk having an issue when entering.

Antonio · Sep 2026
★★★★★

Between the pyramids and lunch, there were many stops at local businesses you could make to learn about papyrus making, kartoush jewelry, spices, Egyptian cotton products, and essential oils and perfumes. At no point did it feel like a tourist trap nor was I pressured to make a purchase.
